Because the law should work for the people of Utah.

This is more than a race for office. It’s a calling to make a difference.

Greg Skordas doesn’t just know the law—he cares deeply about how it applies to everyday people’s lives. How it protects people from crimes, delivers justice to victims, and ensures fair outcomes for those who are innocent or guilty. Over his 38-year law career in Utah, he’s represented those who needed help the most—using his leadership, nonprofit work, extensive pro bono representation program, and expertise for good.

Greg knows it’s too easy for the law to abandon the powerless.

Everyday people need someone looking out for them—someone who won’t politicize the way the law is applied. With an eye for shared values and the heart to protect the vulnerable, Greg Skordas will proudly serve Utah as its next Attorney General.

The experience and values Utah is ready for.

Unique breadth and depth of experience

  • I am in the unique position of having been a public defender, a prosecutor, and a private practitioner building a small successful business.

  • I have represented sons, daughters, husbands, wives, dads, and moms who are charged with crimes.

  • I have represented victims of crimes. I understand the cost and value of a good justice system to the people of Utah.

  • I have appeared in court in every county in Utah. I have talked with jurors, prosecutors, police officers, judges, clients, and their families in every part of the state.

Committed to compassion

  • I have gained a great appreciation for the value of competent legal representation and our Constitution's protections for everyone, including victims and the accused.

  • I spent several years as head of the "Special Victims Unit” prosecuting sex crimes and crimes against children.

  • I was part of a group of Utah lawyers who studied and brought the Drug Court concept to Utah, which has helped thousands of Utahns overcome addiction and lead successful lives.

  • I've have taught hundreds of hours at Utah's police academy, (P.O.S.T) throughout the State.

  • I have performed countless hours of pro bono work for individuals and agencies (named pro bono attorney of the year by the Utah State Bar in 2017.) I have helped people facing eviction, experiencing mental health issues and substance abuse problems, sexual assault survivors, Drug Court graduates, and the Rape Recovery Center.

An understanding of not just the law—of justice and fairness too

  • Prosecuting individuals who have committed crimes taught me the importance of seeking justice for crime victims.

  • Defending individuals charged with crimes taught me that the power of the state must be exercised with wisdom in order to preserve the civil liberties we enjoy as citizens.

  • I bring the intelligent leadership the citizens of Utah deserve from someone who understands all facets of the legal system and the impact it has on real people.

  • I’m committed to serving the citizens of Utah and providing them efficient, effective, and thoughtful leadership.

An equal handle on the needs of rural and urban Utahns

  • The Attorney General is the people’s lawyer. We should be focusing on protecting consumers, the environment, and healthcare.

  • I want to serve the people of Utah by providing leadership in a justice system that works for them.

  • I live in both Eden and Torrey while maintaining a law office in urban Salt Lake City. I have a unique understanding of urban and rural life, liberal and conservative values, as well as where those principles intersect—the place where we can find shared commonalities.

The vision behind this race

“I want an AG’s office that unifies our citizens, not divides them—and that will work toward the common good.

I want an AG’s office that makes decisions based on shared values, not expensive politically motivated litigation that hurts our citizens.

I want an AG’s office that is not beholden to politicians in Washington but is responsive to the needs of the people in our state.

I want an AG’s office that is independent and moderate, not one that adopts and supports extremist views that most of us do not share on important issues like reproductive rights, health care, or clean air and water.

I want an AG’s office that is not beholden to special interest groups like the payday lenders who plague our poor.

I want an AG’s office that is not afraid to fight the good fight and that can win.

This is more than an office I want. This is what I bring to Utah. This is what we all deserve.“
